Killeen is located in central Texas in between the major cities of Dallas and Austin. It has a population of 128,000 and is adjacent to Fort Hood. Other nearby communities, which also offer reasonably priced off post housing, include Belton, Temple, Salado, Nolanville, and Harker Heights. On Post Housing

Fort Hood on post housing is privatized and under control of Lend Lease. Applicants may be placed on a waiting list until appropriate space becomes available. On post housing includes "fully equipped" kitchens, washer/dryer hookups, and often covered parking. Most maintenance is provided.
