Major units assigned to Fort Hood include the 13th Corps Support Command, the 3rd Signal Brigade and the 89th Military Police Brigade. 11th Military Police Battalion (CID) 254-288-0474
407th Army Field Support Brigade 254-287-1617
21st Cavalry Brigade (Air Combat) 254-288-2300
The 21st Cavalry Brigade serves a one-of-a-kind purpose within the Army since it is the only combat training aviation brigade in the world. It began in 1984 as the primary training force for the AH-64 Attack Helicopter Battalions (AHBs) within the Army, and at the time was known as the AH-64 Task Force Headquarters, 6th Cavalry Brigade. By the next year, it was also in charge of training all Apache helicopters; the Task Force was designated the Apache Training Brigade. After another designation in 1992 as the US Army Combat Aviation Training Brigade, the brigade received its current name, the 21st Cavalry Brigade, in 1996 when the AH-64 mission was expanded to also include training of the Longbow Apache and OH-58D Kiowa Warrior units. The brigade supports operations in the Middle East through a mobile training unit so that they are able to remain at Fort Hood and are able to continue other missions such as training Allies for the DoS and DoD Foreign Military Training and Security Assistance project.

1st Cavalry Division 254-288-0928
1st Medical Brigade 254-287-2707
The 1st Medical Brigade is the largest and one of the oldest of its kind in the Army. The “Silver Knights” received their start in 1917 as the 1st Sanitary Train while in France during World War II. After treating tens of thousands of patients, including some of the very first Americans and German prisoners killed or wounded during the Battle of Cantigny, the unit was sent home in 1919. After being home for 2 years, the 1st was stationed at Carlisle Barracks as the 1st Medical Regiment. Just before deploying to Europe during WWII in 1944, the regiment became the 1st Medical Group, then deactivated in 1945 at Fort Benning. The group joined the Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston in 1968 to train units for Vietnam. Finally the Silver Knights moved to their current location at Fort Hood. Operations Desert Shield and Storm sent the unit to Saudi Arabia in the 1990s and then several times to Kuwait as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003-06. The brigade has also deployed in support of Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) in 2012 where it has continued to provide unparalleled medical care to thousands of patients.
